So after a few late-night Totenreich runs, I'm pretty convinced most people are chasing Cointoss the wrong way. I've been getting some setup help from CoD BO7 Bot Lobby when I just want cleaner test runs, and the big thing I noticed is Cointoss doesn't feel tied to one neat secret chain at all. It feels like the map wants you stable first, then it starts checking if you're actually engaging with the side systems instead of sleepwalking rounds.
Look, the community keeps treating this like another mini Easter Egg, and imo that's the trap. If you just rush Pack-a-Punch, camp, and pray for a reward chest later, you're probably wasting your time. In my runs, opening Fishery Island and Tyr's Head early mattered way more than forcing zombie kills in one room. And once I started mixing in cursed-mode stuff, environmental traps, and trial portals, the reward pool started acting way different. Not guaranteed. Still RNG. But way more active. I'm not 100% sure on the exact round threshold because the map doesn't tell you squat, but it definitely felt like mid-game stability was the real gate, not some hidden button combo people keep posting.
I tested this across a few matches. First, get Pack-a-Punch online. Second, buy into Fishery Island and Tyr's Head before you're fully locked into your high-round loop. Third, don't ignore special enemy kills when a trap or side objective is nearby. That part seems way more important than most guides admit. I had one run where I did basically nothing except survive, and Cointoss never showed. Next run, same loadout, but I pushed trials and used the map systems more, and I got a portal spawn into a reward node. Not saying that's hard proof, but the difference was obvious.
Cointoss is goated, but the unlock method is kinda mid because the reward pool seems shared with other relic or helmet-style stuff. So even if you do the right things, you can still roll something else first. That's why I think people say it's bugged when it probably isn't. It's just messy RNG stacked on hidden conditions. Also, afaik nobody has nailed down whether failing a trial locks you out for the match or just delays it. I haven't seen solid numbers on whether the power-up frequency buff stacks with other drop modifiers either, so if someone's got cleaner data, post it.
Ngl, if you're treating Cointoss like a fixed quest, you're trolling yourself. It's a reward-economy item, not a checklist item, and once I started playing around that idea my unlock rate felt way better. I know everyone's obsessed with the more obvious Jotunn Star-style steps right now, but this thing slaps way harder for long runs if you can get it early. And if you're just trying to set up repeated tests, I ended up checking buy CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies for easier runbacks so I wasn't burning hours on dead starts. Curious what everyone else thinks?
