I am packing for a week away with one small bag, and I keep ending up with several pieces that look fine on their own but do not work together. I want to choose a limited set of colors from clothes I already have. I initially planned to pick one neutral, one lighter shade and one accent, then repeat them across tops and layers. That sounds simple until I put the actual fabrics side by side. Some of my supposedly similar neutrals have very different undertones. I have been reading about my color palette to get a better vocabulary for those differences. I am still unsure how much attention to pay to a seasonal label when the immediate goal is a practical suitcase. Is it useful to arrange all the clothes in daylight and remove anything that only matches one outfit? I am hoping for one extra layer for a cooler evening without adding a second color scheme. The shoes and bag are already chosen so changing those is not the easiest option. I can take pictures of possible outfits before packing, though the photos may shift the colors again. I could try on two complete combinations before deciding. For people who travel light, what is the quickest way to spot the item that breaks an otherwise useful palette? |
